John Martin Warren went to be with the Lord on November 1, 2015 while at the Hillcrest Hospital in Cushing. His family was with him. Funeral services, under the direction of Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Oilton, were Friday, November 6, 2015 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, Oilton, Oklahoma. Interment followed at Highland Cemetery in Oilton.

John was born on July 8, 1932 to John M. and Winnie (Witmer) Warren in Drumright, Oklahoma. He grew up in the Drumright-Oilton-Cushing area, and graduated from Oilton High School in 1951. Following his high school graduation, John attended college in Stillwater for a short time, visiting Oilton each weekend to date his wife-to-be - Joan Lomenick. They became engaged in December 1952.

John deferred his education and joined the Air Force in 1953. He and Joan were married July 7, 1953 just before he shipped out for a year's tour of duty in Korea. Upon returning to the States, John was assigned to Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile, Alabama until he was discharged in 1957.

John felt he was called to serve God as a minister, and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee for four years, graduating in 1961. During his last two years in college, he was pastor of a church near Charlotte, Tennessee. Following his graduation, he ministered to churches in Arkansas, Texas, and Washington State. While continuing as a pastor in Washington, John worked for the State of Washington as a Child Protection Social Worker for 25 years. After retiring, he returned to his home town of Oilton.

Though a busy and faithful minister, John enjoyed gardening. He loved flowers, and he loved to watch his vegetables grow. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, wok cooking and outdoor grilling. But he also loved people: his wife and three children; those he ministered to in the church; those with whom he worked; and everyone he met. Though often in ill health and pain for the last 40 plus years of his life, he had a special smile from his heart that touched those he met.

John is survived by his wife Joan of the home, one son: Brian Warren and his wife Andrea of Yakima Washington; two daughters: Laura Biswell and husband Mike of Stroud, Oklahoma; Rachel Guest and husband Robert of Covington, Washington, and one sister: Thelma Harris of McAllen, Texas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren whom he adored.

John is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Dale Warren, and Charley Warren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be make to Oilton Free Will Baptist Church to be used for updating the church kitchen.
