San Francisco Bulletin, 3/20/1872:

Suicide in Aurora, Nevada. – A correspondent of the Sacramento Union, writing from Aurora, Nevada, March 14th, gives this case of suicide: On Monday evening, the 11th instant, about 10 o’clock, Julia, wife of Wilson Butler, aged thirty-two years, committed suicide in this town by shotting herself in the head with a pistol. The ball penetrated the brain, which oozed freely out of the wound. She lived until about 5 o’clock the next morning, but spoke not a word after the shooting. It was a very sad affair, and a surprise to the people. She leaves behind four young children. The Coroner held an inquest on the body, and their verdict was in accordance with the above.
