Virginia was employed for many years at Wolfe and Company and Triple F. Feeds. Bill and Virginia enjoyed many winters in Ft. Lauderdale and made many life-long friends. Following Bills death in 2001, Virginia continued to spend winters in Ft. Lauderdale, travel and enjoyed many trips abroad.
Virginia spent many years with companion Dick Brown. They also enjoyed the Florida community and traveled to many cruise destinations until his death in 2010. Virginia continued to winter in Ft. Lauderdale until the time of her death.
Virginia was a Life Master at bridge and could be found around the bridge table both in Des Moines and in Ft. Lauderdale. Declining health had made the game more difficult for her but she continued to play 1-2 times per week. Until the last few years she enjoyed ballroom dancing. Her other passion was to watch the stock market. She could quote current stock prices at any time of the day.
Virginia is survived by her son, Doug (Judy) McKain; granddaughters, Katie McKain and Kelcie (Ben) Whaley. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Maxine Nichols; brother, Leonard Hoffman; and her parents, Earl and Cora Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m., Monday, November 2, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, where visitation will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. A private interment will be held at Resthaven Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Bridge Club of Iowa in Clive, IA.
