He was surrounded by his loving wife, LaNelle Pouncey Douthit and his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Roxanne Douthit.
Mr. Douthit was preceded in death by his father, Marcell Young Douthit, Jr.; mother, Reba Jones Douthit; and niece, Sue Rowe.
Survivors include his wife, Lanelle Pouncey Douthit; daughter, Tammie Douthit Gafford (Brian) of Athens; stepsons, Leon C. Johnson, Jr. (Dawn) of Atlanta and Scott Johnson (Michelle) of Alabaster; grandchildren, Carson, Colton and Channing Gafford of Athens, Amanda Thomas (Justin) of Atlanta, Madison Johnson of Atlanta, and Cayden and Devon Johnson of Alabaster; great grandson, Lawson Thomas of Atlanta; brother, Jerry Douthit (Roxanne) of Athens; and sisters, Janelle Johnson of Athens and Ruthanne Barksdale (Danny) of Athens.
A celebration of Marcell’s life will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Down the Street Café, located on Zelda Road in Montgomery. To honor Marcell’s memory, please wear your Alabama attire.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in the memory of Marcell to the Salvation Army or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A private family service will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo at a later date.
