Mr. Baucum practiced law for 37 years, retiring from the Shelby County Public Defender's office in 1993. Mr. Baucum was a long time member of Christ United Methodist Church, where he had served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Administrative Board.
Mr. Baucum is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marie W. Baucum; his son, Steve Baucum (Carol); two grandchildren, Wesley Baucum and Stephanie Baucum; his sister-in-law, Marjorie A. Baucum of Forrest City, AR, and two nephews, Robert J. Baucum of Forrest City, AR, and William A. Baucum of Memphis, TN.
Memorials may be sent to Christ United Methodist Church or Madonna Learning Center or charity of donor's choice.
