Gold Star Mother, Mary Korona of Trenton, N.J., passed away Sunday, April 3, 2011, at the Mercerville Center, Hamilton, N.J. She was 95.

Born Maria Sedor in Whitehorse, N.J., Mary attended St. Mary Of The Assumption School, Hamilton schools, and was a graduate of the Philadelphia Modeling and Charm School.

Mary and her late husband, Albert, owned and operated Albert Korona Furs, South Broad Street, Trenton, for 35 years.

As parishioner of Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, she served as P.T.A President, and other offices. As Parishioner of St. Mary of The Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, she was active in church functions and societies.

Mary was a member and Past President of The American Gold Star Mothers, Dept. of New Jersey and Past President of the Trenton Chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers, serving many terms. She was a member, former officer, and Past Auxiliary President of D.A.V. Chapter 41, Hamilton, a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary 3525, Hamilton, former member of American Legion, Post 93, Trenton, Charter Member of the former American Legion, Post 490, Hamilton, member, former officer, and Past Auxiliary President, American Legion, Post 313, Hamilton.

Mary was a Charter Member of The Avenue Of Flags Committee, Beverly National Cemetery, N.J., Charter member of the South Broad Street Community Development Association, and Member of the Friends of the Trenton Library. She was induced into the Chapel of Four Chaplains, Philadelphia in 1976 for her outstanding service to her community and it's organizations.

A cancer survivor, Mary fought and won a harsh battle with lymphoma and encouraged everyone to pray to John Neumann, before he was canonized a Saint.

She was the daughter of the late Andrew Sedor and Mary Kostival Sedor. She is preceded in death by her brothers, George, Andrew, John, Michael, and her beloved sister, Anna Millard, husband Albert Korona Jr., and son, Albert (Bunny) Korona III, and many brother and sister-in-laws.

Mary is survived by her loving and devoted son, Lawrence Korona, of Morrisville, Pa., outstanding dedicated nieces, Doris Millard of Lawrenceville, Dolores (Chickie) Hornyak of Beach Haven; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the professional, caring, compassionate staff of The Mercerville Center who provided an enriched safe, happy and comfortable environment for a delightful lady for six years. Very special thanks, Doris, Rob, Ben, Sharla, Tammy, Michelle, and the Hamilton YMCA.

Viewing will be Wednesday, April 6, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Chiacchio Southview Funeral Home, (Parking facility and handicap access located directly behind funeral home).

The Very Rev. Gregory J. Noga, Pastor of St. Mary's Byzantine Church of the Virgin Mary of Trenton will be officiating.
