ASHTABULA — Allen John Hannold, age 58, passed away Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born on July 9, 1957, in Ashtabula, the son of Charles and Lucille (Baruffa) Hannold and had been a lifelong area resident. A 1975 graduate of St. John High School, he served in the United States Air Force from 1975 to 1979. During that time he was stationed at Chanute AFB in Illinois, he worked as a medical service specialist before being honorably discharged in 1979 and returning to Ashtabula. He continued his education at Lakeland Community College earning an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and then an Associate’s Degree in Nursing in 1986 from KSUAC.
Allen began his career in healthcare as an orderly in 1980 at Ashtabula County Medical Center. He later worked there as a nurse in the emergency department until his retirement in 2008 due to medical reasons.
While working at ACMC, he met the love of his life, Mary Turano, who was also a nurse, and they wed on Dec. 17, 1994 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church
A member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Mt. Carmel Church, he enjoyed gardening and was a true family man, putting his family before all other things in his life.
Allen is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary (Turano) Hannold; and a son, Gabriel Jude Hannold.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling Hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 28th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 29th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 1200 E. 21st St., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Ernesto Rodriguez presiding. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashtabula, with Full Military Honors.
