Edeltrud (Adel) Anna Stoffel, 99, of Davenport, IA, and formerly of Remsen, IA, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, at Kahl Home in Davenport.

A funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Remsen, with Rev William McCarthy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Remsen.

Adel was born August 27, 1916, in Remsen, the daughter of John and Rosina (Wess) Ahmann.

She was raised and educated in Remsen, graduating from Remsen St. Mary’s High School in 1934. Adel was one of the oldest living graduates of St. Mary’s at the time of her passing. Adel then attended beauty school in Sioux City, IA, and was a hair stylist in Le Mars, IA, prior to her marriage.

She was united in marriage to John (Jack) Scharff on August 27, 1941. Jack passed away in 1957.

Adel married John (Jack) Stoffel in 1960. Jack passed away in 1993.

Adel was a wonderful mother and loving friend to many. She was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor. Adel was a skilled seamstress who enjoyed flower gardening, golf, and spending time with family. Adel lived a full, happy, and active life.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Peter (Kathy) Scharff of Remsen, Joseph (Dona) Scharff of Sugar Grove, IL, and Daniel (Mary Lynn) Stoffel of Morrow, OH; daughters, Mary (Robert) McInnis of Bettendorf, IA, and Anne Scharff of Davenport; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren;two great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, George Finch.

She was preceded by her parents; husbands; son, Jack Scharff; and brothers, Norbert, Edgar, and Casey Ahmann.
