Mrs. Fannie Higgins Murphy, 60, Gaylesville Rt. 1 died Tuesday in a Rome, Ga. hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services to be Thursday 2 p.m. from Perry Chapel with the Minister Max Murphy and the Rev. Harley Reynolds officiating Burial in Berea Cemetery. Survivors; husband, Roy M. Murphy Sr.; son, Roy M. Murphy Jr., Gaylesville; daughter, Mrs. Diana Bentley, Gaylesville; brother Gus Higgins, Springville; sisters, Mrs. Estelle Pruitt, Collinsville, Mrs. Lula Williams and Mrs. Ola Mae Holcombe, both of Gadsden, Mrs. Lucy Banach, Homestead, Fla., and Mrs Meryle Walters. Huntsville; three grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Nephews will serve as pallbearers Grady Jackson, Troy Carr, Travis Epps, Dave Alexander, Gene Bentley and Gene Gazaway. Mrs. Murphy was a native of Etowah County and a member of the Church of Christ.
