Major League Baseball Player. For eleven seasons (1957 to 1960 and 1962 to 1968), he was a pitcher with the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Athletics and Cincinnati Reds. Born John Philip Tsitouris, he attended Benton Heights High School, prior to being signed as an amateur free agent by Detroit in 1954. He marked his Major League debut with the Tigers on June 13, 1957. He was acquired by Kansas City, however after two seasons in which he struggled with an elevated ERA and a return to the Minor Leagues (1960), he was traded to the Reds and produced a career-high 12 wins in 1963. The following season (1964), he yielded a career-high 146 strikeouts. In 149 career regular season games, he compiled a 34 win, 38 loss record with a lifetime 4.13 ERA. After retiring from baseball, he worked in automobile sales.
