Opalzelle "Carol" Elliott was born in Van Alstyne, Texas, to Gordon Bruce and Annie Jewell Lockhart. She was preceded in her death by her husband of 66 years, Lloyd Elliott; her father; mother; sister, Lori Hansen; and two nephews, Gene and Wayne Austin. She is survived by her son, Larry Elliott and wife Barbara; their four children, Melanie Tijerina and husband Jacob, children, Caleb and Isabella; Knowle Elliott, Pam Harris and daughter Ashley; Lindsey Logemann and her husband John, and son Gavin; Ryan Elliott, his wife Andrea, and son Triston; as well as her nephew, Danny Hansen. After graduating from high school at the age of 15, she boarded a bus to Oklahoma City with only five dollars and a sack of bananas. Carol's determination and strong work ethic led to a successful career that included working for several Fortune 500 companies, including Deluxe Check Printers. Her passion was antique cars, and her most prized possession was her 1920 Dodge named "Bonnie" which her mother and father used to elope in 1921. One memorable Sunday, she learned how to drive that Dodge in Shepard's pasture. The next day, she was off to a car convention in Abilene, Texas, earning the distinction of being the first lady to drive an antique car to a convention. Carol and husband Lloyd were a team, accomplishing many wonderful things. They attended conventions in 39 states, winning the National Dodge Brother convention, and The People's Choice Award. The family will receive visitors at Buchanan's Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 29 between the hours of 7 to 9 p.m. Services will be held at the family's property on Wednesday, October 30 at 2 p.m. The property is located at 5509 S. Morgan Road. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made on her behalf to St. Jude Hospital.
