Dr. Brainard married Marcia Fox 1818, in Buffalo, Erie County New York before heading to Ohio.
Dr. Brainard was one of the first Free Masons in Lower Sandusky.
Brainard Lodge was named in his honor. His funeral was conducted with Masonic Honors.
