Alice was the wife of Charles L. Rutan and the mother of Chauncey Rutan. Her father was William Berry who served during the Civil War and her mother was Elizabeth Dangler Berry. As a child she lived in Sussex Co., NJ and when married she lived in Phillipsburg, NJ. Her husband, Charles was killed while working for the Jersey Central Railroad. They are both buried in an unmarked grave in the Asbury 1st Presbyterian Churchyard, Asbury, Warren Co., NJ in a plot with 8 gravesite of her father and mother. Chauncey is also buried in the same unmarked plot. If facing the monument of William and Elizabeth Berry, Alice, Charles and Chauncey would be to the right of that monument.
