Jimmy Lanier Bazemore, 79 of Sylvania passed away early Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility.

The Screven County native was born to the late James Eugene and Adell Reddick Bazemore.

Upon graduation from high school he enlisted in the US Air Force and served for four years. He returned home where he and his brother owned and operated for many years the Bazemore Standard Oil Service Station. After the sale of the station and having a love for the land Jimmy began farming, where he grew row crops and raised livestock. He was determined to be successful and had overcame adversity after losing an arm in a farming accident, and while many would have considered it a physically disability, he never let it slow him down from the duties of the farm. He was a member of the McBride United Methodist Church, a salesman for All Plant Fertilizer and managed the Livestock Producers Marketing Association until its closure. He enjoyed genealogy and all aspects of it which led to his role as chairman of the board for the Wesleyanna Memorial Church, the church his ancestors helped build. He will be remembered as having never met a stranger and for his sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gaetanna B. Lariscy.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Darweese Willis Bazemore; son-in-law, Don Lariscy; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Ruth Bazemore, all of Sylvania; a brother-in-law, Jerald Willis of Rocky Ford; grandchildren; Nikki L. and Alex Collins, and Paige L. and Fred Knight; great-grandchildren, Nathan Mock, Tanna Mock, Brayton Knight, and Corbin Knight, all of Sylvania.

Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon from 5:00-7:00pm at the Screven Chapel of Joiner Anderson Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 26, 2015 at 2:00pm in the Wesleyanna Memorial Church, with the Rev. Travis Smith officiating.

Burial will follow in the Buck Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Mike Bazemore, Todd Bazemore, Gary Bazemore, Glenn Bazemore, Eli Owens, and Charles Waters.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dorothy Waters, Harry Sheppard, James Hill, Billy and Betty Jean Newton, Gary Edenfield, Mike Rowe, Peggy Finch, Dean Finch, Edward Fulcher, and Ernest Kelsey.
