Obituary in The Shreveport Times October 27, 2005:

SHREVEPORT, LA - Funeral services for Wilmer Lyles Rainer, 95, will be held at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel, Friday, October 28, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. Dr. Floyd Davis and Reverend Crawford Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Forest Park Cemetery, St Vincent Avenue. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2005.

Mr. Rainer was born January 22, 1910 in Bayou Scie, LA. He passed away Monday, October 24, 2005 in Shreveport, LA after a brief illness. He was employed at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Factory for over 40 years. He was a Sunday School teacher, training union teacher, and a deacon at Ingleside Baptist Church for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by Hattie, his wife of 60 years; his grandson, Lyles Porter; two sisters and five brothers. Mr. Rainer is survived by his daughters: Dixianna Courtney and husband, J.D., of Shreveport; Janet Porter and husband, Mack, of Slippery Rock, PA; grandchildren: Jen Courtney and wife, Teresa; Claudia Powell and husband, Greg; Kern Courtney and wife, Jennifer; Rachel Ralston and husband, Kenneth; Dallis Byrne and husband, Matthew; great-grandchildren: Kalin and Mallory Ralston, Mary Ellen, Jake, Josh Courtney, Rainer Courtney, Sam and Virginia Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jen Courtney, Kern Courtney, Greg Powell, Milton Simmons, Burt Simmons, and Tommy Fanning.

Memorial donations may be made to Woodridge Baptist Church.
