York, Edward L. 88 of Valparaiso, IN formerly of Chicago/Scottsdale for 50 years, passed away June 4, 2009 at his home, with his wife of 63 years, Dorothy, by his side.

He was born on November 24, 1920 in Norris City, IL to Charles and Sarah (Hill) York. Edward was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy and had worked for Borg & Beck as a punch press operator, for 33 years.

On April 27, 1946 in Chicago, IL Edward married Dorothy D. Smolarek who survives along with five children, Bill (Elsa) York, Judy Kania, Pat (Ron) Rhew, Deb Mathews, and Cindy (Jack) Wolf, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, two sisters, Charlene Tait and Erma Hosick, and one brother, Ben (Carolyn) York.
