JAMES CLYDE LUNA
May 30, 1917 ~ November 30, 2005

James Clyde Luna, 88, resident of Ft. Towson, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 at Paris Regional Medical Center, Paris, Texas.

Services were held Dec. 3, 2005 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Christ, Valliant, under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home, Hugo. Virgil Romine and Bob Thornburgh officiated. Interment was in Swink Cemetery.

James Clyde Luna was born May 30, 1917 in Olney, to John Andrew and Lucinda (Powell) Luna. He was raised north of Ft. Towson and moved to New Mexico during the depression to find work. While there, he met and later married Thelma Inez Huston on October 15, 1940, in Lordsburg, N.M. He moved back to the Swink area in 1945 and began work as a logger and cattleman until his retirement. He was a member of the Valliant Church of Christ. He lived a consistent Christian life. He was a man who worked hard, was honest and dependable and helped others when he saw a need.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and one sister.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Thelma Inez Luna, of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin and Vicki Luna and Melvin and Elaine Luna, all of Valliant; one daughter and son-in-law, Bernice and J.E. Talley, Wright City; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Millard Luna, Valliant; three sisters, Virginia Hines, Las Vegas, Nev., Ruth Bagstad, Ft. Worth, Texas and Eula Fay Caldwell, Gatesville, Texas.
