Born April 8, 1922 in Catawba County, he was the son of the late Henry Huffman and Annie Elizabeth Propst Huffman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Muriel Hedrick Huffman; a son, Gerald "Michael" Huffman; five sisters: Phyllis H. Huffman, Annie H. Holsenbeck, Muryle H. Sigmon, Vera H. Huffman, and Vivian H. Mays; and two brothers: Cecil Huffman and Richard Huffman.
Mr. Huffman was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during World War II and was the founder of Huffman Metal Works. He was a member emeritus of the Catawba Valley Camera Club, a member of the Photographics Society of America and the American Legion.
He is survived by a son, Ronald Eugene Huffman and wife Mary Ann of Newton, NC; two daughters: Patricia H. Carson of Taylorsville, NC, Jan H. Carpenter and husband Rick of Claremont, NC; daughter-in-law, Dianne Huffman of Hickory, NC; grandchildren: Vicki H. Omundson of Greenville, SC, Patrick Huffman of Boiling Springs, NC, Kelli Hefner and husband Tommy of W. Jefferson, NC, David Tucker of Newton, NC, Nikki Aiken and husband Mark of Claremont, NC, Megan H. Peterson and husband Lin of Raleigh, NC, and Amber Huffman of Washington, D.C.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Millers Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stephen Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park.
