Cabot passed away peacefully on October 1, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital at the age of 70 after a long hard fought battle with cancer.

Cabot was born in Pocatello, Idaho on January 9, 1945, to Clifford and Loween Abel, however he grew up in Northern California. He attended Pleasant Hill High School where he was student body president and excelled in track and field. Cabot spent his undergraduate college years as a pre-med student at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He graduated from UCSF with a DDS degree in 1970. He went on to complete a graduate program at USC and in 1972 he received his certificate in Orthodontics. Cabot practiced orthodontics in Santa Monica for over 25 years, where he provided excellent care to many children, including those of many in the movie industry. It was not uncommon to see Cabot chatting with Lorne Greene or Stephen Spielberg in his office reception room - humility defined Cabot. He taught at the University of Southern California Orthodontic program for many years - and today his students still refer to him as a legend.

While attending an orthodontic meeting, he met and captured the heart of native Nevadan Joni Beedle, where upon retiring from orthodontics he and Joni married, and Cab moved to Reno 20 years ago.

The last 20 years he spent mentoring children with history, philosophy of life, with a little math and science thrown in. Cabot himself was a perpetual student. Due to his caring and gentle nature, he was loved by everyone he touched.

His hobbies were fly fishing, deep sea fishing in Kona, traveling with his wife, Joni, and creating his beautiful yard full of flowers and plants.

Cabot is survived by his wife, Joni, and brothers, Phil and Gene.
