Dan L. Bourff, 81, Kokomo, passed away at 12:13 pm on Monday, October 19, 2015, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born on November 25, 1933, the son of Arthur M. & Mary Catherine (Reeder) Bourff in Kokomo. On July 1, 1956, he married Barbara R. Fretz and she survives.

Dan was a 1951 graduate of Kokomo High School and a 1955 graduate of Indiana University School of Business. After Dan finished school he began working for his father at Modern Laundry & Dry Cleaners. He then entered the Army where he served from 1956~1962. After he returned from the Army, in May of 1961, he started Ideal Dust Control and operated the business until he retired in 2000 and his son Brad bought the business, which continues today as Ideal, Inc.

Dan was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Howard Masonic Lodge F & AM 93. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, the Shrine Club, and the Grotto. Dan was committed to the community and served on the Board of Health, Legislative Affairs Board, Child Abuse Council, Big Brothers, YMCA Indian Guides, serving as Long House Chief and volunteered with the Indian Princess program. He was a member and past president of Howard county Historical Society and the Kokomo Civic Theatre where he performed in many plays. Dan had played Monroe Siberling in the Emma Siberling wedding reenactments for several years and served as a step on guide for the Kokomo Visitors Bureau. Dan & Barbara enjoyed traveling following their retirement.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Bourff, Kokomo; children, Bradley S. Bourff, Kokomo, and Deborah R. (Jim) White; grandchildren, Gus Bourff, Grace Bourff, Ann Bourff, Jakob White, Delaney White, Jeffrey White and Jaylen White; sister-in-law, Julie Bourff; several nieces and nephews; sister, Joan Knowlan and brother Don Bourff.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Cris Bourff.

Dan’s family wants to express their sincere thanks to his caretakers for the care and kindness shown Dan and his family during his illness.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Grace United Methodist Church, 219 West Mulberry St., Kokomo, with Pastors Mark Hill & Brian Cook officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery, with military honors provided by the U.S. Army and the Kokomo V.F.W. Military Rites Team. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2-6 pm on Sunday at Shirley & Stout Funeral Home & Crematory, 1315 West Lincoln Road, Kokomo, where a Masonic service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
