Andrew joined the Southern army to fight during the civil war. His brother, Ashley R., joined the northern army. They fought against each other at the battle of Lone Jack, Missouri. While the war was going on Andrew would come home for a visit, but he would stay in the woods during the day and his family would bring him food. At night he would come into the house. His mother was afraid he would get caught and killed so after a few days he went back to Arkansas. (Posted 31 Aug 2012 by Beth Brown)
