PELICAN, LA - Funeral services for Melba Gale Middleton, 68, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 9, 20078 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, LA with Brother Wilton Wager officiating. Burial will be at Ajax Cemetery, Ajax, LA. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at Rose-Neath Chapel, Mansfield.

Mrs. Middleton, a homemaker, died Sunday, August 5, 2007 in Pelican, LA following a lengthy illness. Born in Atlanta, LA, she was a long-time resident of the Pelican Community. She was a member of Old Union Baptist Church in the Benson Community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alford Grady Canterbury and Lucille Bullock Canterbury; sister, Mattie Roach and brother Grady Canterbury.

A loving wife and homemaker of 48 years, she is survived by husband, Alton L. Middleton of Pelican, LA; son, Randy Middleton and his wife, Carrie of Mansfield, LA; daughters, Nita Reynolds and husband, John of Nacogdoches, TX, Donna Vaughan of Atlanta, TX and Theresa Ingram of Pleasant Hill, LA; sisters: Betty Jean Eason and husband W.T. and Louise Helveston, both of Shreveport, LA; 8 grandchildren: Danielle, Spencer, Levi, Carmen, Patrick, Casey, Kanri and Michael; 3 great-grandchildren: Chloe, Mackenzie and Georgiana.

Embraced by God I haven't much in worldly things Or treasures that are rare, But I have love that comes from God He gives so much that I can share. I give of self and of my time To help whenever I can, I'm guided by God's holy words to live according to His plan. My wealth is truly measured In so many countless ways- The joy and peace that fills my heart Through starlit nights and sun-filled days I walk with hope and confidence, My faith in God prevails. My bounty thrives and overflows... Embraced by God - He never fails.
