Mr. Butler was born in Tennessee; moved to Montague Co. TX with his parents. He married Maggie Raymond on January 9, 1898. The couple moved to Swisher County in 1919, where he engaged in farming in the Union Hill community until 1926, when the family moved to Tulia, where he opened a grocery store. He later established a dry cleaning plant, which he operated until his health necessitated his retirement from business.
Children: three sons, Loyd, Raymond and L. Dean Butler; two daughtyers, Mrs. Grady Patton and Mrs. Perry Ford.
