Clarence Charles and Evelyn May Smith died together on October 4, 2015. Survived by daughter Janice Jackson of Lake Isabella, CA and son Kieth Smith of Porterville, CA. Preceded in death by son Eugene Kininook Smith.
Clarence was born in Boulder, CO May 7, 1931. Survived by brother Gerald Smith of Redlands, CA. Preceded in death by parents Charles and Verna Smith, brother Edward Smith and sister Marilyn Watts.
Clarence spent his life logging, fishing and loving to spend time with his family and friends.
Evelyn was born July 2, 1932 in East Lansing, MI. Survived by four brothers in northern California; Eugene Baker, Harold Baker, Herman Baker and Homer Baker. Preceded in death by her parents Helen LaBelle and Glenn Baker; brother Elmer Baker; sisters Esther Knight and Carol Worthington.
Evelyn's life was mostly spent at home being happy being a wife and mother. She had a few jobs outside of the home, the last one at Reigel Textile when it was open in Porterville, CA.
They met at Clarences family restaurant when Evelyn got a job there. She knew he was the one. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this year and 70 years of knowing each other.
They had 18 grandchildren and lots of great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Bartlett Park, Arbor 16 at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family reqests contributions be made to organizations that help in the fight against elder abuse or cancer.
