Mrs. Emma Shearer, 66 years old, life resident of Rock Island, died at 5:30 o'clock this morning in the East Moline State hospital following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Shearer, whose maiden name was Emma Schmid, was born Nov. 23, 1865, in Rock Island, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Schmid. She received her education in the Rock Island schools and later was married to Andrew Shearer. Mr. Shearer died 12 years ago. She was formerly a member of the Broadway Presbyterian church.
Surviving are three brothers, Robert Schmid, George L. and August F. Schmid, both of Rock Island and two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Buntenbach and Mrs. Gustaf A. Shaffer, both of Rock Island.
The body was removed to the Moeller mortuary, Rock Island. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon in the residence of Mrs. Shaffer, 2318 Twelfth street, Rock Island. Rev. F.J. Rolf, pastor of the Evangelical church of Peace, will officiate. Burial will be in Chippiannock cemetery.
