Mr. Henry Laverne Brannon, Sr., 78, of Lake City, passed away on Friday October 16, 2015 at the Lake City Medical Center after an extended illness. Mr. Brannon, known as “Papa” to almost everyone, was born on December 6, 1936 in Columbia County to the late William Burton “Bud” Brannon and Bessie Noegel Brannon. He was a lifelong resident of Lake City, and retired from the Lake City Fire Department after many years of service. He also served in the National Guard for seven years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Deep Creek Ward. He served as Bishop and was on the Stake High Council. He enjoyed gardening, carpentry, and spending time with his family. He never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his brother: William Frank “PeeWee” Brannon.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: June DePratter Brannon of Lake City; sons: Hank (Barbara) and Adam (Kim) Brannon both of Lake City; daughters: Angie Williamson (Doug) of Lake City, Amanda Brannon (Ricky) of Lake City and Georgia DiFrancesco (Eric) of West Jordan, UT; sisters: Janet Blanton (Winton) of Wellborn and Mary Beth Jenkins (Ed) of Electic, AL. Thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Brannon will be conducted on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at 10 A.M. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Deep Creek Ward (Old Country Club Road), with Bishop Francis J. Aiello presiding, and the interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Union County. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, October 19, 2015 from 6-8 P.M. in the chapel of the Funeral Home.
