BATES, Ida A., 93, of Follansbee, W.Va., passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008, at home.
She was born June 9, 1915, in Follansbee, daughter of the late Sabastian and Sabastiana Cercone DeSantis.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph G. Bates, March 2, 2000; one brother, Ormond DeSantis; and one sister, Lucy DeSantis.
Surviving are one son, Joseph G. Bates Jr. and his wife, Darlene, of Weirton, W.Va.; one daughter, Carole Zaninelli and her husband, David, of Follansbee; four sisters, Helen and Jean DeSantis of Follansbee, Mary Constantine of Weirton, and Flora Serafini of Steubenville, Ohio; three grandchildren, Joe Bates, III, and Melanie and Melissa Zaninelli; and three great-grandchildren, Mason, Peyton, and Camden Bates.
Friends will be received on Sunday, November 9, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the James Funeral Home, 1245 Main St., Follansbee, WV 26037.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be held on Monday, November 10, 2008, at 10 a.m., at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Pete Giannamore as celebrant.
Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Follansbee, W.Va.
