She was born April 2, 1885, in the Upper Banner community in Jackson county, the daughter of William and Helen Bohannon. She lived in the Liberty community northwest of Holton many years.
She was a teacher in the Parallel and Brick schools in Jackson county from 1904 to 1907. She was a member of First Christian church at Holton and the Liberty Circle.
She was married to Charles F. Hawks April 8, 1908. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Klahr, Holton, and Mrs. Helen Maichel, Overbrook; two sons, Homer E. Hawks, Sacremento, California, and George W. Hawks, Kansas City; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Monday in the First Christian church. Burial was in Holton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Monitor Fund at the Holton Hospital or First Christian church and sent in care of Kansas State Bank.
