Mildred A. Banaszek, 82 of the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Sunday morning, October 4, 2015 at River Street Manor Nursing Home, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Born in Plains, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Wansaw) Ference.

Mildred was a graduate of Plains Memorial High School, class of 1951, and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of St. John’s Church, Miners Mills until its merger with St. Dominic’s Church, currently St. Benedict’s Parish, Wilkes-Barre. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed going to the Mohegan Sun with her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Natalie, Helen, Olga, Ann, Mary, Margaret, and Anastasia, and her brother Fred.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Henry Banaszek, Miners Mills, daughter Brenda Banaszek, Miners Mills, sons Henry Banaszek and his wife Kelleigh, Mount Ida, Arkansas, and Michael Banaszek and his wife Dawn, Syracuse, NY, grandchildren Aaron, Casandra, Kylie, Christopher and Mason Banaszek, and Katherine and William Lavenue, brother Steve Ference, Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews, and her faithful companions, her Grand dogs Starr and Yoshi.

Funeral will be held Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 9:30 am from the Corcoran Funeral Home, Inc., 20 South Main Street Plains, Pennsylvania 18705, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Benedict’s Parish, St. Dominic’s Church, 155 Austin Avenue Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705, with Father Joseph A. Kearney, pastor, officiating. Interment will be held in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Memorial Highway, Dallas. Friends and family may call Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
