Loretta Beatrice ADAM Drummond Lynn, age 88, was burn Apr 15, 1925 in Abilene, KS to Wilbur Leon and Sylvia Mable (Winslow) Adam at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. She was a graduate of Abilene High School, class of 1943. She began her life-long career in elementary education that summer. She held a provisional State Certificate and followed the market for teachers during WWII era in eight Kansas counties. She taught at York Center, a one-room school in Stafford CO; Bushong, Lyon CO; Elmdale, Chase CO. She also taught in Scott City, Scott CO; Webster High School, Rook CO; Antioch in Johnson CO; Oak Grove and Turner in Wyandotte CO. After more than 28 years at U.S.D. 501, she retired from Crestview Elementary School in Topeka, Shawnee CO, KS in 1988. Survivors are a son, and a daughter, a step-daughter in-law. Other survivors include two sisters, 7grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends on this planet. Mrs. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur & Sylvia Adam and four siblings; Leon, Eileen, Albert and Fred Adam; also two step-sons (Ret) Lt Col Edmund B Lynn and Frederick Lynn. Loretta married Maurice Dale Drummond August 11, 1946. In a second marriage, she wed Harold C Lynn on March 7, 1958. He had two sons, Edmund and Frederick. She attended college at Emporia State and received her B.S. in 1949. While living in Kansas City she earned her PHT (Putting Hubby Through) Dental School in 1953 and finished her Master of Arts Degree at Missouri University at Kansas City in Elementary Education. In her active school years, she was a member of NEA, KNEA, and Topeka-NEA. She served a term as building representative and secretary. In 1997 she was president of the KS Assoc. of Retired School Personnel (KARSP) in 2004. Loretta was very active in the Masonic bodies. She was a majority member and Past Honored Queen of Job's Daughters in high school days, she was a 63 year member and four times Worthy Matron of Beulah Chapter #34, O.E.S. and did charity work for Doorstep. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and had been ordained as Deacon and later as an Elder. She was a long-standing member of the American Business Women's Association; and she traveled extensively and loved to read. Loretta was indeed a joiner. She also belonged to a philanthropic society where she se3rved in various offices. She was the national Sergeant-at-Arms one year representing Tau Kappa Chapter of Phi Tau Omega sorority. Cremation and comfort provided by Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home. A June memorial and burial is planned in Abilene, KS.
