Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Charles "Luke" Cavender and Callie Buckner Cavender; sisters, Lettie Norman, Irene Tankersly, Marie Jordan; brothers, Earl Cavender and John Cavender. After retiring from Libby Owens in 1980, Homer enjoyed staying on his farm raising cattle, riding his four wheeler, working with his tractor, and never missed a chance to go deer, turkey, rabbit and coyote hunting. He never met a stranger and enjoyed setting on his porch visiting with his neighbors. He will be buried on his farm underneath the walnut tree on the point below his barn, as he wished.
