Aileen Lela Joplin, age 92, a longtime resident of the Greenville community, passed away November 18, 2010 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
She was born on November 24, 1917 at Coldwater, Mo., daughter of the late George Lee & Cora Belle (White) Barker.
Aileen worked as a homemaker and farmers wife most of her life. She had also worked for several years as a cook in the Greenville RII School District. When she was active she enjoyed fishing with her husband.
She accepted Christ as her personal savior many years ago and was a former member of the Greenville United Methodist Church. She was later baptized on May 25, 1997 and united with the First Baptist Church at Greenville. She remained a member there until death.
On February 28, 1951 she was united in marriage to Homer A. Joplin. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1994.
She is survived by her niece and guardian, Nina Costephens of Arnold, Mo., and many other nieces and nephews throughout Missouri and the United States; she is also survived by a host of friends and church family in the Greenville community.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by five brothers, Lyman, Elmer, Dennis “Dink”, Roy & Marvin Barker; and three sisters, Elsie Minson, Jeanette Cheleske and infant Alma Barker.
