ST. GEORGE, Utah--Florence Pierce Sexton, 81, a beautiful lady, left us on September 25, 1996 to join her Heavenly Father. Her time on earth was a gift of dignity and elegance to all who knew her and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She married Bob M. Sexton in October 1942 in Salt Lake City, Utah where they lived for fifty years prior to moving to St. George.

In a time when it wasn't fashionable, Florence put herself through college and pursued a career in the teaching profession. She taught school in Duchesne County and in the Granite School District for 32 years. She chose to teach children kindergarten through second grade. She balanced her career with a dedication and love for her family. She was a loving wife and a wonderful Mom and Grandmother.

Florence was a member of the LDS Church and held many positions: secretary, teacher and Sunday School stake board member. Florence enjoyed her homes in St. George and Manila, Utah. She also enjoyed boating and fishing on Flaming Gorge.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Riley Pierce and Amy Ellen Wilkins, her sister, Bernice (Paxman), and a brother, Ernest Vere.

She is survived by her husband, Bob, her son, Robert Wayne, daughter-in-law, Wendy, grandchildren, Jennifer and Erin Sexton; sisters, Phyllis Goodrich, Las Vegas, Nevada; Bonnie Lufkin, Hurricane; Betty Robbins, Bountiful; brother, Dean Pierce and wife, Charlene, Salt Lake City.

A visitation was held Friday, September 27, 7-8 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 West St. George Blvd. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 30, 11 a.m. in Sunset Gardens, 10600 So. 1700 East in Sandy, Utah. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services under the direction of Larkin Mortuary.
