VICTORIA - Leslie "Pete" Fahnstrom, 90, a resident of Knox County Nursing Home in Knoxville, Ill., and formerly of rural Victoria, died at 6:40 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at the home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 9, 2006, at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Rev. Marty Briney will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. The burial will be in the Galva Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the Victoria Methodist Church or to the Knox County Nursing Home.
Mr. Fahnstrom was born Sept. 1, 1915, in Argyle, Minn., to Fred and Ingrid (Johnson) Fahnstrom. He married Leone Williams on Sept. 28, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa. She preceded him in death on Jan. 4, 1996.
Survivors include three daughters, Carol (Byron) Geissler of Torrington, Wyo., Marilyn Sue (Robert) Eagle of Oregon, Wis., and Peggy (Mike) Hagerty of Galesburg, Ill.; five grandchildren, Gail (Jim) Lee, Kevin (Lisa) Geissler, John (Erin) Eagle, Kristin (Jeff) Sherry and Jeremy (Diana) Foster; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, six brothers, and a great-grandchild.
Mr. Fahnstrom had farmed and did bulldozing in the Victoria area for many years. He was a member of the Knox County Farm Bureau, L.I.C.A. (Land Improvement Contractors Association), and a 63-year member of the Altona Masonic Lodge 330.
