Olin L. Slayton is the son of Virgil Slayton and Nancy "Nannie" Poe Slayton.

He was the second husband of Goldie Argina Johns Baker Slayton.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crestwood Chapel for Olin L. Slayton, 79, Gadsden, who died Thursday, September 19, 1996. The Revs. Charles Satterwhite and Billy Kitchens will officiate.

Burial at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Crestwood Funeral Home is in charge.

Mr. Slayton served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II. He was the owner and operator of Slayton Trucking for many years and was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Slayton, and sisters, Purnie McCurdy and Deaner Daniels.

He is survived by his sisters, Loraine Hunter and Eunice Blevins; stepson, Larry (Lou) Baker; step-grandchildren, Tisa (Brent) Lang and Joseph L. Baker and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to John Croyle's Big Oak Boy's Ranch.

Pallbearers will be Gary Blevins, Calvin Sims, Wayne Laney, Marion Freeman, Jimmy Hunter and Al Kitchens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Louis Kitchens, Bill Nance, Jerry Vineyard, Drs. Parmar. G. Patel, Shah and Robinson.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 this evening.
