Ronald "Zup" Duane Butcher, age 55, of Ponsford, MN, died on Friday, September 25 at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Zup was born on November 8, 1959 to Mary Jane (Adams) Butcher in White Earth, MN. He attended school at Pine Point School and later went on to Park Rapids and earned his G.E.D.

In 1978 he went to work for Little Earth Housing. He then moved to Minneapolis where he worked as a maintenance man for the Phillips Neighborhood Housing Trust. In the early 1990's he returned to Ponsford, where he worked for Dallas Vizenor in carpentry, while taking classes for plumbing, welding, and truck driving. He worked for many years for White Earth Housing and Hoban's Heating and Plumbing. He retired in 2012 due to health concerns.

Zup enjoyed watching football. He also had a talent for fixing cars and he also liked working around the house. He enjoyed the woods while hunting and hiking and enjoyed the scenery. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Butcher; brothers, Wessley Butcher, Gary Butcher, Louis Butcher Jr., and John Butcher; aunts, uncles, and nephews

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, September 30 at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford.
