Jean Hinman, age 87, lifetime resident of Galien, passed away peacefully, Thursday, October 8, 2015, in her home with her family by her side.

Jean was born November 25, 1927 in Galien, Michigan, to Carl and Mildred (Smith) Renbarger.

Jean graduated from Galien High School. She attended beauty school and went on to work as a beautician in Galien and Three Oaks.

Jean married Rex Hinman, on March 12, 1949, in Galien, Michigan. They spent 59 wonderful years together. He preceded her in death on July 15, 2008.

Jean was a faithful lifelong member of Community of Christ Church where she played the organ and piano for many years. She was a member of the Galien American Legion Post 344 Auxiliary and the Galien Woods Historical Society.

She was devoted to her family and friends and enjoyed sharing her God given gifts of baking and cooking. She was known and loved by all.

Jean is also preceded in death by her parents, her son Dennis, her daughter-in-law Joni Hinman, her brothers: Richard, Clayton, Carlton, her twin sister Jane and her sister Ruth.

Jean is survived by her children: Don Hinman, Clinton, Michigan, Laurie (Scott) Hanson, Baroda, Michigan; her grandchildren: Chris, Corey, Amy, Ross, Sara, Zach, Mary, Christian; her great-grandchildren: Cameron, Brady; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her wonderful caregivers.

Family and friends will gather Sunday, October 11, 2015, from 2-5:00 P.M. at Pobocik Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 106 Ash Street East, Three Oaks, Michigan 49128. The Funeral will be held Monday, October 12, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. at Community of Christ Church, 110 North Cleveland Avenue, Galien, Michigan 49113. The Reverend Richard Pennington will be officiating.

Jean will be laid to rest in Galien Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions be made in Jean’s memory to: Community of Christ Church, 110 North Cleveland Avenue, Galien, Michigan 49113, and/or: Galien American Legion Post 344, P.O. Box 206, Galien, Michigan 49113.
