Treven Anspach, 20, was the son of a local fireman, a college basketball player and a 2014 graduate of Sutherlin High School who was described by a teammate as a quiet leader. He was among the nine victims who died Thursday in the mass shooting at Umpqua Community College.
Treven was a 6-foot, 4-inch basketball player on the UCC Riverhawks team. His coach, Daniel Leeworthy, said in a Facebook post that "he was a friend and a coach's dream." Treven also had been a member of the Sutherlin High team that won the Far West League basketball championship in 2014. That same year, he played in the Oregon Athletic Coaches basketball all-star series. After graduating, he worked for a summer at Roseburg Forest Products. Jackson Shelton, a basketball teammate at Sutherlin, said Trev was a quiet the leader and one of the team's strongest players. His celebration of life will be on Saturday, October 17th, 2015, 1:00pm At Sutherlin High School
