Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Athalea Carruth Brinkerhoff will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with the Reverends Fred Summers and Gary Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.

The family asks that friends call at the funeral home Friday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resume on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Pallbearers honored to serve include John Brian Clopton, Bobby Brinkerhoff, David Brinkerhoff, Tom Force, Bucky Tynes, Michael Huff and Jonathan Perkins. Honorary pallbearers are Jaba Brennan, Chris Johnson and Mark Belgard.

Mrs. Athalea Carruth Brinkerhoff, 97, of Pineville, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at Rapides Regional Medical Center.

She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Pineville and currently of the Marksville Church of the Nazarene. Athalea was an Office Manager for Quaker Lumber Company for many years and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Her husband, John D. Brinkerhoff, Sr.; parents, William Sr. and Beulah Banks Carruth and a brother, Charles H. Carruth precedes her in death.

Mrs. Brinkerhoff leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, John D. Brinkerhoff, Jr. and Robert L. Brinkerhoff; a daughter, Susan Brinkerhoff Levin; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, Reverend W. E. Carruth and W. A. Carruth, Jr.; sister, Patty Carruth Constant and a host of other family members and friends.

The family has designated Marksville Church of the Nazarene, 4192 Highway 1192, Marksville, LA 71351, for memorial contributions.
