LIFE STORY of JENNIE AGNES ALLSTOT, 67
Jennie Agnes Allstot, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Samantha Jane Miller, was born August 15, 1886 near Harlan where she lived the early part of her life. She died at the home of her son Louis, at Missouri Valley, February 9, 1954 at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 25 days.
She moved with her parents to Defiance in the spring of 1901. She attended high school in Harlan for one year and finished her education in the Defiance high school. She was a successful teacher in the rural schools. She united with the Christian church in early life, and remained faithful until her death. She also was active in the Evangelical church of Defiance, and was an officer in the Ladies Aid for a number of years.
She was untied in marriage to Charles Allstot October 27, 1906. To this union two sons were born, Louis E. of Missouri Valley and Cecil J. of Defiance. Besides these sons she is survived by four grandchildren, one sister, Myrta Puthuff of Blanchard, Iowa, and one brother, Ray Miller of Independence, Mo. Her husband preceeded her in death in 1951.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, from the Defiance Evangelical United Brethern Church with the Rev. Rex Turner, pastor of the Christian church in Missouri Valley, assisted by Rev. Robert Dragoo of Defiance officiatin. Casket bearers were Dee Holmes, Vene Miller, James Tinnell, Dale Gamer, Kline Ely and Foster White. Music was furnished by the Ahrenholtz brother quartette accompanied by Mrs. Louis Ahrenholtz at the piano.
