Mr. Cox was born September 15, 1924, in Egypt, Georgia, son of Ira C. Cox, Sr. and Lilah Russell Cox.
He was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and attended Clemson University. Mr. Cox served with the US Navy during WWII.
Surviving are 3 sons- Edward “Eddie” Cox of Copperhill, Tennessee; Walter “Willie” Cox of Bonneau; Barney “Rusty” Cox and his wife, Terri, of Moncks Corner; 4 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. He was predeceased by 2 brothers- Ira C. Cox, Jr. and Russell L. Cox.
His graveside service will be held in St. Stephen Episcopal Church Cemetery, directed by RUSSELL FUNERAL CHAPEL, Saturday morning, October 10, 2015, at 11 o’clock. The family will receive friends at Russell Funeral Chapel, Moncks Corner, on Friday evening, October 9, 2015 from 6 to 8 o’clock.
