CONNERSVILLE, Ind. - Lillian Suttles McDonough McCoy 95, Connersville, died Monday June 1, 1998, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rushville Born March 9, 1903, in Connersville, she was the daughter of Charles and Pearl Selby Suttles. The 1926 graduate of St Vincent's Hospital School of Nursing was a private duty nurse and worked at Fayette Memorial Hospital. She taught Red Cross classes in the 1940s and was a leader in Fayette County Girl Scouts in 1950s. After her first husband, John J. McDonough, died in 1946, she continued ownership and management of McDonough Market and Locker Plant until 1961. In 1957. she became the maternity supervisor for the 3-11 pm shift at Rush County Memorial Hospital and assumed the 3-11 pm. shift hospital supervisor duties in the late 1960s until retiring from nursing in 1971. She moved to Port Richey Fla, in 1971, after marrying George McCoy in 1970. They returned to Rushville in 1991 and he died in 1993. Survivors include a son, James McDonough of Madison; a daughter, Ruth Knowles of Phoenix; five grandsons; five great-grandchildren; a niece; two stepdaughters, Barbara Craven of Rushville and Sue Grady of Muncie, 10 step-grandchildren; and 23 step-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Eileen McDonough in 1933; and a brother, Ray Suttles in 1987. A Mass of Remembrance will be at 10 am Saturday at St Mary Catholic Church in Rushville. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery Memorials may be made to the RN Club Scholarship fund, Rush County Community Foundation Inc., 117 N. Main St, Rushville Arrangements were handled by Todd Funeral Home in Rushville and Urban-Winkler Funeral Home in Connersville.
