Katherine Burns Young, 82, of George Hildebran School Rd., Connelly Springs, departed this life to her heavenly home on Friday May 20, 2011 at her residence.
Mrs. Young was born on June 28, 1928 in Catawba County to the late Archie Lee Burns and Mattie Lea Burns Rogers.
Katherine was a Graduate of Banoak School and Clevengers Business College. She was employed by Johnson Hosiery Mill , George Hildebran School, and retired from Brinkley Insurance Agency. Katherine was a life long member of Mulls Chapel Baptist Church, where she was church Treasurer for over 42 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one grandchild, Tami Carpenter.
Survivors include her husband Lloyd Young of the home; three daughters, Debbie Carpenter and husband Tommy of Prosperity, S.C., Annette Brittain and husband Don of Hickory, N.C., and Paula Johnson and husband Jeff of Glen Allen, VA; five grandchildren, Dawn Powell, Derek Brittain, Rodney Brittain, Katherine Johnson, and Hunter Johnson; five great-grandchildren, Leena Brittain, Danner Brittain, Shelby Brittain, J.D. Powell, and Thomas Powell; and two sisters, Betty Jo Wright of Hickory, N.C. and Phyllis R. Shook of Vale, N.C.
