Dolphine Penley Lyon, 92, went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 3, 2015 following an extended illness at her home.
She was surrounded by her loving family. She was a member of Morrison City Christian Church. Dolphine's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to her. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Paul Thomas Lyon; parents, Rufus and Stella Penley; her beloved son, David Anthony Lyon and wife, Kay; brothers, Luther and Mitchell; and sister, Georgia Marie.
She is survived by her children, Reta and Don Cooper of Blountville, Mike and Suzanne Lyon of Johnson City, Claudi Lyon of Dalton, Georgia, Lyla and Warren Anderson of Kingsport, and Cindy and Don Fluce of Kingsport; grandchildren, Cheyanne and Mike Hill of Jonesborough, Melissa and John Memoli of Falls Church, Virginia, Amy and Bryant Pickney of Knoxville, James Lyon of Charlotte, North Carolina, Rachel Anderson of Nashville, Travis and Karen Lyon of Johns Island, South Carolina, Samantha and Bart Rowlett of Kingsport, Stephanie and David Weinhold of Kingsport, and Elliot Fluce of Kingsport; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Anna Paxton Hill, Dominic Memoli, Harper and Sarah Pickney; sister, Jeanette Penley; sisters-in-law, June Penley and Helen Penley; and several nieces.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Morrison City Christian Church. The funeral service will follow with Minister Bob Underwood officiating, with music by David Reed and Billie Jean Winchell.
A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
