He was the son of Horace Stevens and Anna M. Phipps Stevens.

On April 17, 1909 as Horace N. Stevens, he married Helen Coburn at Lowell, Massachusetts.


Horace N. Stevens was born in North Andover, Massachusetts. He was an officer for many years with the J.P. Stevens Company, a textile firm in New York City. He retired in 1947. He died at age 77 on Thursday, July 19, 1951 at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was a resident of Plainfield, New Jersey. Survivors included his wife, Helen C. Stevens; two daughters: Mrs. Mary V. Griswold [1910-2007] of Plainfield and Helen Stevens [later married Herbert E. Whitlock; (1916-2007)] of Cambridge and one son, Horace N. Stevens of North Andover. Funeral services were held at his summer residence in South Dennis. Private interment services were held at Hillside Cemetery in Plainfield, New Jersey.
