Excerpt from the book 'The Voyage of Robert Dudley. Afterwards Styled Earl of Warwick and Leicester'. Published June 2010:
"Although its actual results were insignificant, the voyage of Robert Dudley to the West Indies in 1594 is nevertheless an interesting one . It witnessed the
earliest recorded English attempt to
occupy Trinidad and ascend the Orinoco; it reflected in a marked degree, and especially from the extreme youth of its leader, the adventurous
spirit of the time; and, above all, it was the starting point in the active career of a remarkable man."
