Funeral services for Harry A. Lason, who retired as sealer of weights and measures for the City of Binghamton in 1960, will be held at 8:45 a.m. tomorrow in the Greskovic Funeral Home, 161 Clinton Street. Further services will be held at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in St. Andrew's Church. Burial will be in the Slovak Catholic Cemetery, Johnson City.
Mr. Lason, who was 64 and lived at 7 Felters Road, died at 4 a.m. yesterday in Binghamton General Hospital after a long illness.
He had retired from his city post on March 18, 1960, after serving as sealer since appointment to the post by former Mayor Walker B. Lounsbery in 1950. For the six months previous to his appointment, he had served as deputy sealer.
Mr. Lason had worked for the city in other capacities before World War 2, when he entered the Navy. After his discharge in 1944, he returned to work for the city until he was appointed Broome County sealer of weights and measures in 1946. He subsequently left the county post to become deputy city sealer.
He also was a veteran of World War I. He was partially disabled during his World War 2 service.
Mr. Lason is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lason; three daughters, Mrs. Gladys H. Darling of Florida, Mrs. Alice I Johnson of Vestal and Mrs. Marguerite N. Share of Corning; two sons, Kenneth R. Lason of California and Robert Lason of Johnson City; two stepsons, Stephen T. Emerick of Kirkwood, and Joseph Emerick of Binghamton, and several brothers, sisters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was a member of American Legion Post 80 and St. Andrews Church.
Recitation of the Rosary will be 8 o'clock tonight in the funeral home."
