Mr. Peter Anthony Eterno, 74, of Las Vegas, NV, formerly of Utica, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2015 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.
Peter was born in Utica on April 25, 1941 the son of Anthony and Mary (Adamo) Eterno. He was raised locally and was a graduate of Proctor High School. Peter honorably served his country in the Army National Guard in Utica and later the Air National Guard in Syracuse. For 47 years, he was employed with Rite Aid Corporation until his retirement. After retirement he went to work with Wal-Mart in Las Vegas. Peter enjoyed golf, traveling and had a true passion for Italian Cuisine. He will be remembered as a hardworking man whose work ethic was unmatched and as a devout Catholic who loved his faith, family and many friends. A loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, Peter dedicated his life to his family.
Mr. Eterno is survived by his wife Maureen Eterno of Las Vegas; one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Greg Boing of Sorrento, FL; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Macleisha Eterno of Annandale, VA; a niece, Sandra Eterno-Nemeyer of Utica; a nephew, Phil Nicotera and his wife Cathy of Houston, TX and Maureen's family, Gary, Dawn, Cierra and Brody. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Nicotera and brother, Vincent Eterno.
Mr. Eterno's funeral will be held on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville. Calling hours for family and friends are Thursday 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 1517 Whitesboro St., Utica. Pete was a friend and neighbor of my youth. A good friend. He lived on Jay St., Utica, New York. RIP Pete.
