St. George, Utah - David Shirley Powell passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010. He was born September 25, 1921, in Bluebell, Utah, to James and Marie Simpson Powell. He married Verla Wittwer April 12, 1939, in Roosevelt, Utah. Verla passed away in January of 1998. David later married Carol Wilson on March 29, 2005, in Wellington, Utah.
David was a long-time resident of Carbon County, Utah, and was residing in Santa Clara, Utah, at the time of his death.
He is survived by his second wife, Carol; children, Sandra (Allen) Fausett, David (Nadine) Powell, Jana Young, Wesley (Kathy) Powell, Shirley Rudman, Ken (KLene) Powell, and Gary (Joan) Powell; 34 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son-in-law Robert Rudman, and two grandchildren, Joy Powell and Damon Young.
Funeral services will be held Monday, November 29, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Spilsbury Mortuary Chapel, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, UT. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to services at the Mortuary. Interment will take place in the Santa Clara Cemetery
