" Britton Medlin, aged ninety-eight years, died at his home from injuries sustained by being burned. The old gentleman was sitting in front of the fire in the home of his son when dozing he fell headlong into the fire and was fatally burned about the face and shoulders. A physician was called and all possible was done to relieve his sufferings. He died Sunday. The deceased came to Knox County when a young man and settled west of the city. He was a prosperous farmer and highly respected. The remains were interred in the old Pate burying ground near the home of the deceased."
